Gartner TCO models - Notice system

As part of Gartner’s ongoing effort to maintain and deliver the highest quality and the greatest relevance to our Gartner TCO model users, we are introducing a new system to help better manage our communications around additions, modifications and retirements to Gartner TCO models and model components.

The new system is divided into 6 parts:

Advance Notice
An Advance notice provides advanced notice of when a new component (or components) will be introduced into a TCO model(s). Typically an “advance” notice will provided between 3-6 months before the feature or service is implemented. The notice will also include any information around what clients need to do to prepare for the new component. The term “component” can refer to either a new methodology element or new architectural functionality. The details will be included in the notice information. Please note some of this additional information might require that you have access to other Gartner services which may incur additional charges.

New Component/Service Implementation
A “New Component/Service Implementation" indicates the actual implementation and availability of a new component(s) into a TCO model(s). This notice will also direct you to where you can find more detailed information about the new component if appropriate. Please note some of this additional information might require that you have access to other Gartner services which may incur additional charges

New Model Introduction
A “New Model Introduction" specifically refers to the introduction of a new Gartner TCO model into the overall Gartner TCO model portfolio. Please note the issuance of a “new model” notice does not automatically grant access. Access to new Gartner TCO models will be subject to your prevailing license rights.

Update Notice
An "Update Notice" indicates which models or components in a model have been updated either to address architecture enhancements, or content changes or modifications or model/model component version enhancements.

No Update Notice
A “No Update Notice" indicates that a component in a TCO model(s) will not be updated for content for the next 3-6 months. This will normally be a precursor to retiring the component from the Gartner TCO portfolio. This type of notice will also be used for the retirement of TCO models.

Retirement Notice
A “Retirement Notice" indicating that a component will be removed completely from a TCO model(s) between 3-6 months from the issue of the notice. The notice will normally also include any migration allowances or adjustment available for the retired component as well as the support profile for that component.

The new notice system is effective immediately.
